Joshua 1:5-6 (NIV) No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous…
What made Joshua so strong, courageous and confident? Was it because of his amazing personal gifting or military skill? No! Joshua’s confidence was not found within himself. His confidence was found completely in the abilities of his God. In fact, Joshua’s identity and purpose had been linked with the name and purposs of God.
Joshua’s name was originally “Hoshea”, which means salvation.
But, Moses added the divine Name of “Jehovah” to it, making it:
“Jehoshua – God is our salvation....Joshua
Joshua’s name became connected to God’s Name!
Did you know that when you receive Christ into your life, the same thing occurs? Christ puts His own name on us. We become “Christians”! Our name becomes linked with Christ’s own name.
Who’s name do you carry? If you’ve linked your name to the Name that is above all names, you enter a world of endless possibilities and infinite opportunity!
Philippians 2:9-11 (NIV) Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and give Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to glory of God the Father.
